This painting is a part of the collection, California Dreaming, a series of paintings created on location in Encinitas & Carlsbad, on the beach beside the Pacific Ocean. With the sound of the steady waves in the background, and the continual flight of the pelicans soaring by, this environment feels methodical, a salty meditation. This series is centered around balance, rhythm, and harmony with the dominant blue palette met by orange and yellow accents. The whimsical shapes, lines, and forms of the seashells found washed up in tide pools elicits a playfulness within the painting reflected in meandering lines throughout the composition.
